Shavlik statement on Microsoft’s re-release of MS10-106 patch for Microsoft Producer 2003

Microsoft has re-released MS1-106 which was originally released during the March 2010 version of Patch Tuesday. When the bulletin was released, Microsoft stated that Microsoft Producer 2003 contained the vulnerability. But, Microsoft chose not to supply a patch for the vulnerability.

With this re-release, Microsoft is providing a new version of Producer to fix the vulnerability. You can now install Producer for PowerPoint to address this outstanding issue.

In addition, Microsoft fixed installation switches for the Movie Maker 2.6 on Windows Vista and Windows 7 patches. If you have already applied these patches to your systems, you will not need to reapply the patches.

Kudos to Microsoft for putting out a secure version of Microsoft Producer. The product may have reached end-of-life for support, but Microsoft is still providing a critical security fix for their software and their customers.
